Bluetooth or USB, Which Laptop Mouse is Right for You?
All you have to do is try and use a trackball or a touch pad mouse on your new laptop to know why you need a laptop mouse. I know you’ve realized they are hard to maneuver. How many times have you mistakenly tapped the touchpad and realized you were typing in the middle of you document and not where you intended? How difficult is it to when you start using a trackball mouse? It takes a fair amount of pressure on the right points of the trackball.
These and many other reasons are why you should consider a new laptop mouse. And why not, why should you fight with your laptop? Wouldn’t it be easier to use a PC style mouse instead? These are the ones you can cup your hands around. There are two types that are the most popular: Bluetooth and USB. Both styles offer the convenience of the PC style mouse and both claim to be the best style laptop mouse.
The USB Bluetooth laptop mouse comes with an adapter that plugs into your USB port. Most laptops come standard with at least two 2.0 USB ports. The optical USB laptop mouse is plug and play compatible and plugs into the USB port. Most optical laptop mice have an advanced optical sensor that doesn’t require a mouse pad. A mouse pad is just something extra to carry around.
The Bluetooth laptop mouse on the other hand does not require a USB 2.0 port. Bluetooth mice are wireless. They can operate without the need for a USB receiver, thanks to the built-in Bluetooth technology found in most, but not all laptops today. Most Bluetooth-enabled laptops are able to find and lock into the mouse within seconds without the need for installing software.
Either style of laptop mouse gets you the look and feel of the more common PC mouse. Both styles, in most cases, are powered by AAA batteries. Only the Bluetooth laptop mouse needs integrated Bluetooth technology already built in. The USB laptop mouse just needs a USB 2.0 port.
This means the USB mouse is portable to more laptops and cheaper as well. Also the range of the Bluetooth laptop mouse is greater because the Bluetooth receiver is integrated into the laptop. The Bluetooth laptop mouse connects directly to a Bluetooth PC without a transceiver, which frees up USB ports for other devices.
Regardless of which style you choose. There are few pointers that apply to most laptop mice. A laptop mouse that’s sensitive means you don't have to move your hand and wrist across the desk as much. The number of buttons on either mouse can reduce stress and improve reflexes by allowing speedy access to common functions like browsing or combating an opponent while gaming. Most importantly, a mouse should be comfortable and ergonomic because you use it for several hours a day and most likely don't want to end up with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
